The present thesis is a qualitative study which aims to explore what impact grades have on students in an esthetic upper secondary school. The study uses a student !3 perspective where the central factors are learning, motivation and self-esteem. The background to the study is an interest in what makes an individual genuinely motivated, and the experience that school puts a great focus on grades.
