Referring to optional visual information in unrestricted dialogue

Abstract in Undetermined Previous research of multimodal language processing have used visual information that was either explicitly or implicitly obligatory. This study investigates the use of optional visual information in a free dialogue task. The utterances were analyzed for the presence of deictic expressions, productivity, information content and effects of change over time. The main finding

Irish GDP between the Famine and the First World War : estimates based on a dynamic factor model

A major issue in Irish economic history is the lack of national accounts before the interwar period. This paper constructs new annual estimates of real GDP between 1842 and 1913 based on a novel two-stage econometric approach. Our results show that while living standards approximately tripled in this period, development was uneven with contractions in economic activity not only during the Great FaA major issue in Irish economic history is the lack of national accounts before the interwar period. Gender integration in development : a feminist, postcolonial reading of Sida’s efforts for gender integration

MaterialetThis thesis aims to investigate Sida’s view on gender integration and gender (in)equality as well as how this understanding may affect the way Sida works to promote gender equality globally. Since gender integration is the main method for increasing gender equality at Sida The plan for gender integration at Sida 2015-2018, as well as the partial report on this plan, is analysed in to reach this ai

Radiobiological optimization including consideration of secondary cancer risk A treatment modality comparison study for pediatric medulloblastoma

Purpose: To estimate and compare normal tissue toxicity and secondary cancer (SC) risks from 3D conformal radiotherapy (3D CRT), arc radiotherapy (ART) and intensity modulated proton therapy (IMPT) for treatment of pediatric medulloblastoma (MB). The purpose was also to investigate the possibility of optimizing radiotherapy treatment with the aim of reducing normal tissue toxicity as well as the r

Late glacial to Early Holocene deflation events and aeolian deposition on a raised ice-contact delta at Veinge, SW Sweden

Wind-abraded cobbles (ventifacts) and aeolian sand are known from the sandy-gravelly coastal areas of south-western Sweden, especially in association with raised deltas. Ventifacts are recorded on at least two different stratigraphic levels, on top of glaciofluvial sediment and/or on top of littoral deposits, while aeolian sand usually forms a surficial cover. The formation of ventifacts has usual

Inhibition of IL-4Rα reduces CCL26 in bronchial epithelial cells from COPD patients

The effect of vitamin K on prothrombin time in critically ill patients: an observational registry study.

Background Previous studies have indicated that vitamin K deficiency is common in non-bleeding critically ill patients with slightly prolonged prothrombin time-international normalized ratio (PT-INR). It has never been investigated thoroughly whether the administration of vitamin K to these patients could affect their PT-INR. Therefore, the aim of this registry study was to evaluate changes in PT-

The possible impact of Intermediate Mass Black Holes on our Galaxy

Orbit integration for three different assumed Intermediate-mass Black Hole (IMBH, defined as black holes with mass MBH in the range 100Mo < MBH 104Mo) populations in the Milky Way for 10 Gyr has been performed. Upon collision with molecular clouds in the galactic disc, the relative velocity between both objects has been measured and the luminosity resulting from the gas accretion process onto the

In vitro differentiation of human myeloid cell populations.

The human immune system responds to a wide variety of pathogens and microorganisms to defend the body. Investigating the cell types and molecular markers of the immune system are critical for the understanding of diseases and finding treatments. Antigen presenting cells (APCs) are sentinels of the immune system that sample the surrounding environment and educate the components of the adaptive immuCan parts of the immune system be utilized for new effective cancer treatments? The immune system is a defense network for our body to respond against outside invaders including bacteria, fungi and viruses, and protect us from diseases by, for instance, removing infected or abnormal cells. The innate immune system acts as a rapid response system for recognizing foreign, potentially dangerous age
