“You feel small in the crisis in a way” - Climate change perceptions and sustainability in everyday life
This thesis examines how people from the Swedish middle-class experience their role in the climate crisis through their sustainable consumption and lifestyle practices. Today, consumer-fixated solutions are among the most prominent among large institutions, corporations and political unions globally. Simultaneously, policy initiatives to encourage sustainable practices have not effectively corresp

Designing Bolt Fixed Laminated Glass with Stress Concentration Factors
Abstract in Undetermined general method for determining stress concentration factors for laminated glass balustrades with two plus two bolt fixings with variable positions is developed. It is demonstrated how the stress concentration factors can be presented graphically in design charts and representative charts are displayed for the case of a more specific bolt-fixed balustrade type. In general,
Making Analogues of Tröger's Base – Fused oligomers, endo/exo isomers and twisted amides
The centenarian Tröger’s base (TB) was envisaged as scaffold for the construction of tubular-shaped cleft molecules due to its the remarkable structural properties. This endeavor started with the synthesis of the three possible diastereomers of a linear symmetrically fused tris-TB analogue, the anti-anti, the syn-syn, and the syn-anti. All three diastereomers showed unprecedented stability to acid
Synthesis of Transition Metal Aluminides from Elemental Powder Mixtures
Structural components such as those used in gas turbines for energy conversion applications, are subjected to high loads at elevated temperatures. In order to ensure that the components survive under these conditions for a sufficiently long time, it is imperative to select materials with good high temperature properties like strength and corrosion resistance. Such materials are usually alloys with

Brand orientation in action : Towards a relational approach
Along with the ever-expanding interest in brands, the brand orientation concept has since its inception in the early 1990s steadily received more and more attention from scholars and practitioners alike. Application of material flow analysis for the assessment of current municipal solid waste management in Karachi, Pakistan
This article assesses the status of the solid waste management system (SWMS) in Karachi, the largest city of Pakistan, using the material flow analysis approach, a widely applied method in waste management (WM) studies. It involves a systematic assessment of the material flows of solid waste under the current WM system. A material flow diagram is developed to visualize the input and output waste f
Challenges and the Way Forward in a Difficult Development Landscape: Achieving a Sustainable Future in Africa and Its Sahel Region
This handbook brings together a collection of seminal research on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and investigates the effectiveness of the 17 goals for achieving transformative change toward sustainable development. As a collection of inter- and transdisciplinary research from around the world, this volume explores the applications, implications, and best practices of the goals at thematiWhen the world committed to end poverty and hunger as part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the promise to “leave no one behind” was recognized as both an ethical responsibility and a key criteria for success. How can we make sure that such a promise becomes a reality, and what challenges lie ahead? This chapter aims to address these issues by focusing on parts of the world that, despi
The potential of overlooked material in museum repositories : Revisiting grave materials in Falbygden through multiproxy analyses
In this article we aim to highlight the potential of forgotten grave materials in our museum depositories for gaining insights into prehistoric life. By applying a multi-proxy approach to the skeletal remains of two graves of uncertain types from Falbygden in western Sweden, we were able to acquire new knowledge of burial practices, subsistence, health and mobility in Late Neolithic and Early BronIn this article we aim to highlight the potential of forgotten grave materials in our museum depositories for gaining insights into prehistoric life.
