The Article 2(1) of the Charter of the United Nations has clearly articulated the sovereign equality for all its Members, while the Article 2(7) states that the United Nations will not intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state unless the matters involve in the international peace and security. It seems that once the matters, which are essentially with

The stepwise stabililty constants, Kn for the bromo aqua complexes PtBrn−1(H2O)7−n5−n; n=4, 5, 6, formed in the successive acid hydrolyses of PtBr62−, have been determined to be K6=(.19±0.1) x 103 M−1, K5= (1.0±0.2) x 104 M−1 and K4=(1.1±0.2) x 105 M−1. A bromide assisted mechanism is proposed for the bromide anations of PtBr4(H2O)2 and PtBr5H2O-. Both these reactions are found to be first order w

Laser Shock Peening (LSP) and Shot Peening (SP) are processes used to mechanically alter the surface properties of metals by inducing a transient high-pressure wave by a laser pulse or by a high-velocity impact of a peening particle. Both processes aim to induce compressive residual stresses near the surface and the level of residual stresses obtained from SP or LSP is similar. When austenitic ste

This thesis deals with older persons on the move and their access to cross-border healthcare in the European Union. The number of persons crossing borders within the EU has increased exponentially in recent decades. Free movement has been at the core of the European integration project from its early days. This article investigates the evolutionary and spatial dynamics of typological characters in 117 Indo-European languages. We partition types of change (i.e., gain or loss) for each variant according to whether they bring about a simplification in morphosyntactic patterns that must be learned, whether they are neutral (i.e., neither simplifying nor introducing complexity) or whether they introduce

This work aims at studying photoionization dynamics from atoms and surfaces at attose time scales. The work was based on development and applications of a high repetition rate High-order Harmonic Generation (HHG) light source that utilizes Optical Parametric Amplification (OPA) laser technology. The laser system delivers few-cycle pulses in the near infrared (IR) at a repetition rate of 200 kHz. Almost all species face some degree of predation risk, and, hence, evolution has produced a plethora of anti-predator defences. However, anti-predator strategies require resources, and the prevailing risk of becoming prey is influenced by many factors and rarely constant across time and space. Evolution has therefore favoured the development of phenotypic plasticity in anti-predator defences. Finding the probability that a stochastic system stays in a certain region of its state space over a specified time—a long-standing problem both in computational physics and in applied and theoretical mathematics—is approached through the extended and multivariate Rice formula. In principle, it applies to any smooth process multivariate both in argument and in value given that efficient numerical

In 2008 the National Library of Sweden made a decision to change the Swedish classification system SAB to the internationally used Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), a decision that was supported by the Swedish Library Association that recommended all Swedish libraries to make the change. The main reasons and arguments were internationalisation and rationalisation; less time should be laid on cla

Today, the majority of employees in the tourism industry work under contingent and fairly insecure working conditions, among them seasonal employees. In this industry, the business of amusement parks and resort hotels is one with a high quota of seasonally hired front-line employees. Research from Human Resource Manage¬ment pinpoints the underlying risks of low commitment among employees in an ind
