Management by Recognition: An Interactionist Study of Normative Control in Voluntary Work

Many contemporary work organizations are concerned with how they can influence employees’ intrinsic motivation. Their quest follows a widespread realization that people do not necessarily work harder because of monetary incentives or direct commands. Instead, people’s inner motives, their urge to self-realize and get recognition, are seen as key factors influencing workers’ mindsets and behaviors.

Patch-clamp characterisation of somatostatin-secreting -cells in intact mouse pancreatic islets

The perforated patch whole-cell configuration of the patch-clamp technique was applied to superficial cells in intact mouse pancreatic islets. Three types of electrical activity were observed corresponding to alpha-, beta- and delta-cells. The delta-cells were electrically active in the presence of glucose but lacked the oscillatory pattern seen in the beta-cells. By contrast, the alpha-cells were

Study in Malmö

Malmö - the perfect city to study music! There is undeniably something special about Malmö. The city is small enough to be able to get around everywhere by bike but big enough to have a rich cultural life. The residents come from all over the world, and this is reflected in Malmö's continental atmosphere and fantastic music scene. As a student city, Malmö has developed a lot in recent years and stu

2020 - En framtidsoptimistisk roman

Written by Alexandra Nikoleris, 15 April 2020 Since the start of my career as a researcher, about 9 years ago, I have been struggling with the notion that what “we” need are optimistic stories of what a sustainability transition would entail. Laparoscopic lavage vs primary resection for acute perforated diverticulitis : The SCANDIV randomized clinical trial

IMPORTANCE: Perforated colonic diverticulitis usually requires surgical resection, which is associated with significant morbidity. Cohort studies have suggested that laparoscopic lavage may treat perforated diverticulitis with less morbidity than resection procedures. OBJECTIVE: To compare the outcomes from laparoscopic lavage with those for colon resection for perforated diverticulitis. DESIGN, S

Interact or counteract? Behavioural observation of interactions between vulnerable road users and autonomous shuttles in Oslo, Norway

The current paper presents the results of behavioural observations in a field experiment with automated shuttles in Oslo, Norway. Video observations were conducted at five fixed locations along a challenging 1.2 km automated shuttle line with varying traffic conditions. Observed interactions between vulnerable road users and automated shuttles were coded using a predefined codebook, which allowed
