Dynamic glucose enhanced chemical exchange saturation transfer MRI : Optimization of methodology and characterization of cerebral transport kinetics

Dynamic glucose enhanced (DGE) chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) MRI is an emerging imaging technique that provides a molecular-specific type of image contrast, based on magnetic labelling of exchangeable protons. The technique enables the use of biodegradable sugars as contrast agents, and such compounds are believed to have less side effects than conventional MRI contrast agents. Multiple Choices and Challenges - A Study of E-leadership in the Digital Era

The purpose of this study is to investigate the increasing specialisation of tasks in contemporary organisations and ensuing demand of expertise, and how these factors are affecting the leadership within virtual teams (teams in organisations working virtually with help of technology). Globalisation and a technological revolution has greatly transformed the business world during the last decades, w

Cultural and socio-political development in south Etruria. : The Biedano region in the 5th to 1st centuries BC

The town of Blera is situated in the southern parts of Etruria and has a history spanning more than 2,500 years. Its location between the two important Etruscan cities of Tarquinii and Caere has meant that Blera, for the entire Etruscan period (c. 750–50 BC), alternatively has found itself in either city’s sphere of interest. When Rome begins her expansion into Etruria, following the fall of the s

Disaster risk management and climate change adaptation in urban contexts: Integration and challenges

Popular Abstract in English Disasters continue to affect urban populations and housing infrastructure. They are intensified by extreme weather events caused by climate change. This situation has made the creation of synergies between climate change adaptation (CCA) and disaster risk management (DRM) urgent. Despite their similarities and the recognised need to unite CCA and DRM efforts, the fieldsAn increasing number of disasters continue to affect urban populations and housing infrastructure. The overwhelming majority of them have been caused by climate-related events. This situation has made the creation of synergies between climate change adaptation (CCA) and disaster risk management (DRM) urgent. Despite the recognised need to unite CCA and DRM efforts, the fields remain separate. Furt

Fail, Learn, Persist: The Psychology of Re-Entry into Entrepreneurship After Business Failure

This study explores the different psychological processes and psychological capital resources that help entrepreneurs sustain motivation to re-enter entrepreneurship after discontinuing a previous venture. While existing literature has focused intensely on the financial and social costs of business failure, minimal yet growing scholarly attention has focused on the psychological costs of failure a

Palladium(II) Halide Complexes III. Acid Hydrolyses and Halide Anations of cis- and trans-Dichlorodiaquapalladium(II) and -Dibromoaquapalladium(II))

Chloride and bromide anations of PdX(H2O)3+, cis-PdX2(H2O)2 and trans-PdX2(H2O)2, acid hydrolyses of PdX3H2O−, cis-PdX2(H2O)2 and trans-PcX2(H2O)2, X = Cl, Br, have been studied at different temperatures by means of a stopped-flow technique. Rate constants and activation parameters are given. The palladium complexes react about 5×104 to 5×105 times faster than the analogous platinum(II) complexes.Chloride and bromide anations of PdX(H2O)3+, cis-PdX2(H2O)2 and trans-PdX2(H2O)2, acid hydrolyses of PdX3H2O−, cis-PdX2(H2O)2 and trans-PcX2(H2O)2, X = Cl, Br, have been studied at different temperatures by means of a stopped-flow technique. Arbetstagarens laster – anställningsskyddets gräns vid missbruk av alkohol, narkotika eller spel

This dissertation ”The employees sins – the employment protection limits regarding addiction to alcohol, drugs and gambling” – aims at determining the situation under existing law for three different types of addiction: alcohol, drugs and gambling. The investigation is based on a legal dogmatic method and the cases are mainly from the Swedish Labour Court. Of great importance for the employment

Glossier : en fallstudie

The purpose of this thesis is to provide the reader with knowledge of how the beauty industry is affected by digitalization, especially concerning marketing strategies and consumption practices. This thesis performs a case study of the company Glossier in order to examine what strategies they use to market and sell their products. Glossier launched in 2014 as an ecommerce based beauty company. Thi

Dynamic Competition in the Pharmaceutical Sector

The innovative efforts of the pharmaceutical sector have provided society with numerous new remedies and medicines. Innovation is considered to be of key importance to the sector. The aim of the thesis is to analyse how the relevant legal frameworks should be developed to account for the innovative need of the sector. In order to develop these frameworks it is important to understand the underlyin

Optimering av balktvärsnitt med avseende på bärförmåga

SSAB Tunnplåt AB manufactures high strength steel to e.g. beams to trailers, containers, trucks and cars. In high strength steel designs the ratio width to thickness is also high and therefore the risk for local buckling is high. When buckling occurs the stress will re-distribute and large deformation will occur. It is therefore important to take buckling into consideration when dimensioning high

Beställarens roll inför klimatmålet 2030

Climate change and environmental awareness have been a focus topic in the past years due to the increase of greenhouse emissions in the atmosphere. A significant part of the problem is the greenhouse gas emissions caused by the construction industry, whether in the early stages of construction or over the life of a building. In order to reduce human impact, several actors in the building and const

Belongings in segregated residential areas. A study on identity expression of immigrants living in Rosengård, Malmö from a sociological perspective

This study revolves around how the adult immigrants who live in Rosengård think and feel about living in this segregated area, the impact such place has on identity creation and how identity development is seen in the background of their integration into the Swedish society. In this study the qualitative method has been used – six interviews have been conducted with residents of Rosengård. On the

Investigation of groundwater resources - A case study in north-west Tanzania using remote sensing analysis and groundwater simulation

Globally 884 million people depend on unsafe drinking water, of which 159 million depend on untreated surface water (WHO, 2017). In Tanzania 44% of the popula- tion lack access to safe drinking water (WaterAid, 2017). Women and children in the small city of Chonyonyo, in Karagwe district are walking several hours a day for contaminated drinking water. According to a study, carried out in TanzaniIn Chonyonyo, a village in north-west Tanzania, the majority of the population have no access to the groundwater beneath them. Every day, women and children walk several hours to a hole shared with animals, to collect contaminated drinking water for their families’ domestic needs. This report shows that the groundwater resources in the area are sufficient to supply the people of Chonyonyo with fre

Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Swirling Flows in Combustor Related Geometries

Popular Abstract in English The concern about pollutant emissions from combustion devices has stimulated the development of modern combustion devices. As one of the major power generation machines, modern gas turbine engine has been designed to run at fuel-lean and premixed mode of combustion in which the combustion temperature is moderate so that NOx emission is low. Combustion in premixed mode rThis thesis deals with the physics of turbulent swirling flows. Large eddy simulation (LES) method is used to investigate the vortex breakdown process, the precessing vortex core (PVC), and the effect of swirl number and flow field configuration on swirling flows. The study is based on an open source CFD code, \textit{OpenFoam}. Turbulent swirling flows are widely used in combustion devices such a

Towards redox active liquid crystalline phases of lipids: a monoolein/water system with entrapped derivatives of ferrocene

The phase and electrochemical behavior of the aqueous mixtures of monoolein (MO) and synthetic ferrocene (Fc) derivatives containing long alkyl chains -(Z)-octadec-9-enoylferrocene (1), (Z)-octadecen-9-ylferrocene (2), and ferrocenylmethyl (Z)-octadec-9-enoate (3)-were studied. At low hydration, the reversed micelles (L-2 phase) and cubic Q(230) phase of MO can accommodate relatively high amounts
