Choice Blindness: The Incongruence of Intention, Action and Introspection

This thesis is an empirical and theoretical exploration of the surprising finding that people often may fail to notice dramatic mismatches between what they want and what they get, a phenomenon my collaborators and I have named choice blindness. The thesis consists of four co-authored papers, dealing with different aspects of the phenomenon. Paper one presents an initial set of studies using a co

Complement activation negatively affects the platelet response to thrombopoietin receptor agonists in patients with immune thrombocytopenia: : a prospective cohort study

Increased platelet destruction is central in the pathogenesis of immune thrombocytopenia. However, impaired platelet production is also relevant and its significance underlies the rationale for treatment with thrombopoietin receptor agonists (TPO-RAs). Previous studies have associated enhanced complement activation with increased disease severity. Additionally, treatment refractoriness has been de

When wrong is right : leaving room for error in innovation measurement

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to contribute to a better understanding of the occurrence of strategic error in using key performance indicators (KPIs) in innovation Design/methodology/approach: This case study was conducted at the innovation department of an organization in the process industry that operates production sites and sales organisations worldwide. Observations and interviews werTo date, measuring innovation has not been an exact science. As in many areas of organizational life, errors in measuring innovation are a recurring fact. Innovation researchers and practitioners alike have become increasingly interested in understanding the occurrence of organizational errors and how these errors affect innovation and its measurement. This empirical study aims to address this und

Non-invasive imaging methodologies for assessment of radiation damage to bone marrow and kidneys from peptide receptor radionuclide therapy. : -

Background/Aims: Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) is becoming clinical routine for management of neuroendocrine tumours. The number of PRRT cycles is correlated with treatment effect but theoretically limited by off-target radiation damage to kidneys and bone marrow. New imaging biomarkers for assessment of PRRT tissue damage would enable evaluation of novel renal and bone marrow prote

Glucagon Counter-Regulation to Hypoglycemia During Incretin-Based Therapy

Incretin-based therapy is associated with low risk of hypoglycemia in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) possibly due to its glucose-dependency in stimulating insulin secretion and a sustained glucagon response during hypoglycemia. This is of special relevance when it is combined with insulin or given to elderly patients since both insulin therapy and high age are associated with impaired glucagon co

Surgical Age and Morbidity After Arterial Switch for Transposition of the Great Arteries

An inclusive and participatory approach to counter-radicalization? : Examining the role of Muslim associations in the Swedish policy process

Policies on preventing radicalization and recruitment to violent Islamist organizations have been widely criticized for reinforcing negative stereotypes of Muslims as a group. Sweden has stood out by international comparison by announcing an approach built on inclusion and participation, especially with regard to Muslim civil society. But what does it mean to make a policy process inclusive and pa

The Nabberör dogs - social significance of dogs in South Scandinavian Late Iron Age

During the Late Iron Age, a large variety of dogs and the earliest evidence of dog leashes appear in Scandinavia. This study is based on an analysis of the dogs in the Nabberör boat grave on the island of Öland in relation to dogs from other burials and settlements.Breeding and care of the dogs have been analysed through the integrated life stories of individual dogs, based on age, sex and health

Antisemitism and the antiracist struggle

In this paper, I discuss resistance against antisemitism in relation to the overall antiracist struggle. Inspired by postcolonial theory and critical race studies, and by locating notions of “Swedishness” at the core of the analysis, I show that antisemitism can be understood as a form of structural racism entangled with other racisms. Fuel Prices and Environment-Friendly Innovations. Evidence from the Automobile Industry

This paper empirically examines the relationship between fuel prices and patenting activity in environment-friendly technologies in the auto industry across the OECD countries for the period 1994-2011. Overall, the results suggest that tax-inclusive fuel price affects innovative activity in environment-friendly technologies. More specifically, the analysis shows that the technologies aiming to red

Polisens aThe aim of this master thesis has been to examine the court proceedings when policemen commit violent crimes at work. The procedure involves processes in multiple instances causing a range of problems. The goal has been to investigate the procedure as it is today, to identify potential problems and to seek solutions to these problems. The police has a complex role in society and their work assig

Enligt svensk rätt tillfaller nödvärnsrätt den som befinner sig under ett ”överhängande brottsligt anThe subject of this essay has been to determine the content of established law, concerning at what time an attacked person is entitled to self-defence at the earliest. Both Sweden and Norway’s legal solutions have been studied, using a legal dogmatic method, and a comparative legal method. The right to self-defence is, according to Swedish law, ensured to a person subject to an ”imminent criminal

I proposition 2020/21:150 föreslog den dåvarande regeringen en lagstadgad tidsgräns på fyra månader när det kommer tiIn recent years, there has been a broad shift in the view of children’s and parental rights. A stronger children’s rights perspective has been established within Swedish law and politics. Several amendments have been made to the Children and Parents Code. One of these amendments can be found in Chapter 6, Section 19, third paragraph of the Children and Parents Code (sw. föräldrabalken (1949:381)).

Asymptotic behaviour of the Hausdorff dimension of Julia set for quadratic polynomials around $-2$

I detta sam- manhang verkar Mandelbrots citat vLet $\dim_H(\mathcal{J}_\epsilon)$ and $\dim_H(\mathcal{J}_{i\epsilon})$ denote the Hausdorff dimension of the Julia set of the polynomials $f_\epsilon(z) = z^2 -2 -\epsilon$ and $f_{i\epsilon}(z) = z^2 -2 +i\epsilon$ receptively for small $\epsilon>0$. This thesis contains two main Theorems, both dealing with the upper bound for the asymptotic behaviour of $\dim_H(\mathcal{J}_\epsilon)$ and $\dim

Regulating Digital Platforms Regulating Digital Platforms - The Interplay Between EU Competition Law and the Digital Markets Act

The rise of digital services has reshaped the EU internal digital market and revealed significant shortcomings in EU competition law. In response, the EU introduced the Digital Markets Act (DMA), an ex-ante sector-specific legislative approach to address these issues. The DMA’s aim is to complement traditional competition law by addressing fairness and contestability within the internal market thr

From Profiles to Success: Linking Founders’ Characteristics in Real Estate Startups to Entrepreneurial Success

bstract The real estate sector in Sweden has long been characterized by high entry barriers, strict regulations, and a high demand for large initial capital. These factors make it challenging for new ventures to succeed in the market. With this background, it seems relevant to understand which driving factors can be related to entrepreneurial success. This study researches how specific characteris
