Collectio : a software especially designed for creating dynamic libraries for fluid and multilingual text traditions

This contribution presents a new software, Collectio, which can be used for creating highly complex relational MySQL databases, or more accurately, dynamic libraries. These libraries prove particularly well-suited for texts where the material has been organized in different ways and thus represents a ‘fluid’ textual tradition, or in traditions transmitted in many languages. So far, two libraries h

The role of policy making in the Amazon - A case study of deforestation in Brazil

This case study investigates what role the government decisions and policies have for deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon. The decisions and policies are part of the immediate causes of deforestation, which exists in a theoretical framework that I have developed. This theoretical framework constitutes of three levels: underlying causes, immediate causes and sources, which lead to deforestation.

In My Flowering Garden : Nordic picture books in the era of student occupation 1968

The aim of my presentation is to examine the concept of gardening as a cultural construct, and how this concept is created and transformed in picture books from 1968 (the canonical year of student revolt). We often think of the 1970s as the decade when Nordic children’s literature became political. But such a judgment may be premature. An analysis might show that this claim only offers a schematic

High dependency of chilli fruit set on wild pollinators in southern India

Ongoing pollinator declines threaten the production of many entomophilous crops. Recent reports that yields of animal-pollinated crops in India are increasing less than pollinator-independent ones suggest the occurrence of pollen limitation. We experimentally evaluated if production of the common food crop chilli benefits from insect pollination and if crop production is constrained by lack of pol

Inverse probability weighted generalised estimating equations for longitudinal data

The investigation of lung function in a population plays an important role in diagnosis and assessment of many airway diseases. In addition, an overview of the lung function status can help provide better health-care options and inform medical decisions. When studying the lung function, the collection of measurements (data) of the lung function from voluntary individuals is a crucial part. Often,Longitudinal study designs, in which variables of interest are observed at multiple time points in a study population, are frequently used in clinical research. Missing data are common in these types of studies. Moreover, in studies investigating a population where the mortality rate is high, data can be truncated by death. To handle missing or truncated data, it is important to investigate the un

Specificity of plant-odor detecting olfactory sensory neurons in Ctenarytaina eucalypti (Homoptera: Psylloidea)

Abstract The blue gum psyllid, Ctenarytaina eucalypti (Homoptera: Psylloidea), is an economic threat to Eucalyptus plantations worldwide. To date, no efficient control method is available for this pest and the potential for semiochemical-based monitoring or control methods have not yet been investigated. Hence, I conducted the first study on the olfactory sense of C. eucalypti, investigating the

Feminint och maskulint, animat och inanimat, manligt och kvinnligt. Form och semantik i Urshultsmålets nominalsystem

: My paper studies the nominal system in a dialect of Småland, spoken in Urshult,as it has been coded and transcribed in a volume by Swea Johansson, a native speaker of this dialect. In this variety, a large portion of the weak feminines, in modern Swedish roughly nouns ending -a, for example penna ’pencil’, instead end in -e, penne ’pencil’. Furthermore, the definite form frequently ends in -na,
