Det långsiktiga målet med direktivet är att unionenSustainability has become increasingly important in recent years as global warming continues to be the most serious threat to our environment. The real estate sector accounts for 40 percent of the total energy consumption in Europe. To address this issue, the European Union initiated the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), which aims to reduce energy consumption and achieve a fully d

A Genotype-Dependent Intermediate ECG Phenotype in Patients With Persistent Lone Atrial Fibrillation Genotype ECG-Phenotype Correlation in Atrial Fibrillation

Background-Atrial fibrillation (AF) is heterogeneous at the clinical and molecular levels. Association studies have reported that common single-nucleotide polymorphisms in KCNE1 and SCN5A may predispose to AF In this study, we tested the hypothesis that specific AF-associated genotypes confer variation on the appearance of AF assessed by analysis of fibrillatory rate of the atria. Methods and Resu

Climate Related Thermal Actions for Reliable Design of Concrete Structures

Complex interactions of climate factors affect the temperature changes. When the temperature is varied in a material it will expand or contract, and movements will be produced. If the movements are prevented, stresses may be induced which can contribute to cracks in the structure. Severe cracks have be

Kinetics of Carbon Monoxide Exchange in Chloro and Bromo Carbonyl Complexes of Palladium(II) and Platinum(II)

Carbonyl exchange between [MX3(13CO)]–(MX = PdCl, PtCl or PtBr) and 12CO has been studied by IR and 13C NMR spectroscopies as a function of temperature. The exchange is first-order in both CO and complex concentration, and the activation entropies are negative, suggesting an associative reaction mechanism. There is a small solvent effect, but no chloride dependence. Activation parameters and rate Carbonyl exchange between [MX(3)((CO)-C-13)](-) (MX = PdCl, PtCl or PtBr) and (CO)-C-12 has been studied by IR and C-13 NMR spectroscopies as a function of temperature. Towards cell replacement therapy in Parkinson’s disease. Proteoglycans and Nogo-A as modulators of axonal growth in midbrain dopaminergic neurons

Popular Abstract in English Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most common, after Alzheimer’s disease, neurodegenerative disease in man. Stiffness in joints, shaky hands, and slowness of movements make it difficult for people with PD to complete normal daily tasks like buttoning up a shirt. Additionally, PD affects memory, mood, sleep and the function of the gastro-intestinal tract. Over time,Parkinson’s disease (PD) is currently the second most common neurodegenerative disorder (after Alzheimer’s disease). PD is diagnosed on its motor symptoms, which include akinesia, bradykinesia, rigidity, postural imbalance and resting tremor. It is well established that the motor symptoms develop due to lack of dopamine in the striatum. This is caused by progressive degeneration of dopaminergic ne

Inget svenskt samlingsnamn som passar i alla dylika sammanhang har uppkommit och även om specifika detaljer skiljer sig åt från fall till fall, förefaller ärekränkningar förekomma somThe legal cases concerning unwanted online publishing of private material have experienced a significant rise in the last few years peaking around 2012 in Sweden, with initial assiduities around the issue being brought about by the “Instagram riots”. Up to this day, there is yet to be a collective term to entirely encompass these cases, and although the specific details differ between each case, t

Imaging of gynecological disease (6): clinical and ultrasound characteristics of ovarian dysgerminoma

Objectives To describe the clinical history and ultrasound findings in patients with ovarian dysgerminoma. Methods This was a retrospective study of patients with a histological diagnosis of ovarian dysgerminoma who had undergone preoperative ultrasound examination. The patients were identified from the databases of 11 ultrasound centers. The tumors were described by the principal investigator at

Neonatal resuscitation - studies in piglets

Background and aims: “It’s best to start with air” states the current guidelines on the resuscitation of babies at birth. In a piglet model mimicking severe neonatal asphyxia and circulatory arrest, different aspects of resuscitation were investigated (studies I-III). The hypotheses were that the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) would occur faster with the use of oxygen (I and III) or adre

Contrast-enhanced MRI of human knee cartilage Clinical applications of the novel dGEMRIC technique to study glycosaminoglycan content in articular cartilage

Man vet att det tidigt under sjuDelayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC) is a new technique to study cartilage glycosaminoglycan (GAG) content. The negatively charged contrast agent Gd-DTPA2-, injected intravenously, distributes in the cartilage inversely to the likewise negatively charged GAG. The GAG concentration is reflected by the MRI parameter T1 and the Gd-DTPA2- concentration by the MRI parameter R1 (R1=1/T

Environmental Corporate Social Responsibility - An Overview of the Frameworks and an Analysis of Their Supply Chain Management

Climate change is a threat facing the planet which could bring disastrous consequences. In the globalised world, states are less capable of fighting this threat alone&semic it is also necessary that companies take on this challenge. Amongst other people, this idea is supported by Kofi Annan and Nicolas Stern. One of the ways in which this is done is through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR

Fluor-elbaite, lepidolite and Ta--Nb oxides from a pegmatite of the 3000 Ma Sinceni Pluton, Swaziland: evidence for lithium--cesium--tantalum (LCT) pegmatites in the Mesoarchean

Mineral evolution is concerned with the timing of mineral occurrences, such as the earliest reported occurrences in the geologic record. Minerals containing essential Li have not been reported from rocks older than ca. 3000 Ma, thus the lithian tourmaline (fluor-elbaite) and mica (lepidolite) assemblage from a pegmatite near Zishineni associated with the ca. 3000 Ma Sinceni Pluton presents unusual

Epigenetics of the non-coding RNA nc886 across blood, adipose tissue and skeletal muscle in offspring exposed to diabetes in pregnancy

Background: Diabetes in pregnancy is associated with increased risk of long-term metabolic disease in the offspring, potentially mediated by in utero epigenetic variation. Previously, we identified multiple differentially methylated single CpG sites in offspring of women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), but whether stretches of differentially methylated regions (DMRs) can also be identifi

Molecular phylogeny of north European Geometridae (Lepidoptera: Geometroidea)

A comprehensive phylogeny of north European Geometridae is reconstructed using a two-step analytical pipeline. First, a phylogenomic backbone tree was inferred using a 117-species subset of geometrid moths and a 35-species set of outgroup taxa from eight other macroheteroceran families. The data matrix totalled 209,499 bp from 648 protein-coding loci obtained using anchored hybrid enrichment techn

Evaluation of zinc status in subjects with Crohn's disease

Zinc status was evaluated in 30 subjects with Crohn's disease. Intestinal resection had previously been performed in 23 of the subjects. The concentrations of zinc were determined in plasma, erythrocytes, percutaneous muscle biopsies, and in urine collected during 24 hours. The results were compared with those in 19 healthy controls. Most of the patients had a normal zinc status. The levels of zinZinc status was evaluated in 30 subjects with Crohn's disease.
