A summer street is created by temporarily closing the car traffic on a street during the summer months. The pedestrians get access to the entire street and the liberated space can be used for activities, greenery, benches, bike parking, art and by restaurants. During recent years major cities have made the concept known to the general public. My study shows that summer streets have a much longer

Explaining environmental behavior with values, worldviews, and self-construal: Different sides of the same coin?

Values, worldviews, and self-construal are strong correlates of pro-environmental behavior. In this brief empirical note, we argue that these constructs overlap conceptually and share underlying dimensions. Using an international sample of 11,964 individuals, we demonstrate that values, worldviews, and self-construal can be reduced to two dimensions, self-focus and other-focus, capturing 67 % of v

Communication in Games and Decision Making under Risk

Popular Abstract in Swedish Avhandlingen är indelad i två delar. The first part studies communication in games and the second part investigates individual decision making under risk. Chapters 2 – 4, co-authored with Ola Andersson, investigate communication and renegotiation in dynamic games. In Chapter 2, Bertrand supergames with non-binding communication are used to study price formation and stability of collus

Coin-turning, Random Walks And Inhomogeneous Markov Chains

This research monograph explores new frontiers in Markov chains. Although time-homogeneous Markov chains are well understood, this is not at all the case with time-inhomogeneous ones. The book, after a review on the classical theory of homogeneous chains, including the electrical network approach, introduces several new models which involve inhomogeneous chains as well as related new types of rand

Purse of medieval silver coins from royal shipwreck revealed by X-ray microscale Computed Tomography (µCT) scanning

We present the archaeological discovery and microscale X-ray Computed Tomography (µCT) scanning of a silver coin purse lost in a medieval shipwreck while the king who issued many of the coins was aboard. The find demonstrates that shipwrecks are extraordinary repositories of historical information, in this case providing insight into one of the most important and dramatic events of medieval Scandi

Uppsatsen konstaterar att klimatlagens utformning inte skapar några konkreta eller staAs a part of a national framework targeting the issue of climate change, the Swedish climate act (klimatlagen [2017:720]) entered into force. The framework also introduces a new government agency called Klimatpolitiska rådet and new long term climate goals. The purpose of this paper is to analyse whether this framework is an effective instrument in dealing with the issues of climate change. The pa

Recombinant factor IX Fc for the treatment of hemophilia B

Current hemophilia B treatment guidelines recommend routine prophylaxis with factor IX (FIX) replacement products, tailored to maintain plasma activity at levels that will prevent bleeds. However, plasma FIX activity may not be the primary determinant or best indicator of hemostatic efficacy due to its extravascular distribution. FIX replacement therapy has evolved to include extended half-life (E

Two Sides to the Same Coin: The Dual Life of Consultants in Employee and Employer Branding

Purpose: This research aims to gain an understanding on how consultants in small consultancies, who also hold internal human resource responsibilities, promote their organisation in employee and employer branding. Relevance: Due to the ambiguous consultancy profession and the high potential for individual influences on the corporate brand, branding becomes a very germane topic in our particular r

Automated electrolyte formulation and coin cell assembly for high-throughput lithium-ion battery research

Battery cell assembly and testing in conventional battery research is acknowledged to be heavily time-consuming and often suffers from large cell-to-cell variations. Manual battery cell assembly and electrolyte formulations are prone to introducing errors which confound optimization strategies and upscaling. Herein we present ODACell, an automated electrolyte formulation and battery assembly setup

ATOR-1017 (evunzekibart), an Fc-gamma receptor conditional 4-1BB agonist designed for optimal safety and efficacy, activates exhausted T cells in combination with anti-PD-1

Background: 4-1BB (CD137) is a co-stimulatory receptor highly expressed on tumor reactive effector T cells and NK cells, which upon stimulation prolongs persistence of tumor reactive effector T and NK cells within the tumor and induces long-lived memory T cells. 4-1BB agonistic antibodies have been shown to induce strong anti-tumor effects that synergize with immune checkpoint inhibitors. The firs

Indistinguishable genomic profiles and shared prognostic markers in undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma and leiomyosarcoma: different sides of a single coin?

Soft tissue sarcoma (STS) diagnostics and prognostics are challenging, particularly in highly malignant and pleomorphic subtypes such as undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS) and leiomyosarcoma (LMS). We applied 32K BAC arrays and gene expression profiling to 18 extremity soft tissue LMS and 31 extremity soft tissue UPS with the aim of identifying molecular subtype signatures and genomic prog

Form does not follow function, but variation does : The origin and early usage of possessive HAVE got in English

This article investigates the emergence and early use of possessive HAVEgot in English. Two hypotheses about its emergence are tested on historical data (c.1460–1760). One hypothesis is based on communicative functionality, suggesting that got was inserted as a ‘pattern preserver’ to compensate for the increased reduction of HAVE. Two sides of the same green coin? A legal analysis of the concept of the (green) industrial competitiveness of the Union through the Net-Zero Industry Act

För att möjliggöra detta presenterade den Europeiska kommissionen i mars 2023, i samband med pIn the global race against climate change, the answer of the European Union is the transition towards a green economy by focusing on strengthening the competitiveness of the net-zero technology industry and securing the necessary critical materials. To do so, the Union presented two legislative acts in the European Green Deal Industrial Plan in 2023, amongst which the Net-Zero Industry Act. While

Fractionation of rat IgG subclasses and screening for IgG Fc-binding to bacteria

The four IgG subclasses of the rat, IgGl, IgG2a, IgG2b and IgG2c, were purified from normal serum by a combination of protein A-affinity chromatography and DEAE-cellulose chromatography. Purified, radiolabelled preparations of IgG were tested for binding to Gram-positive bacteria representing five different Fc-receptor (FcR) types. Distinct rat subclass-specific Fc-binding was noted to bacterial s

Mapping Future Canadian Arctic Coastlines

The Canadian Arctic currently faces changing coastlines due isostatic rebound and climate change-driven sea-levels rising. This thesis seeks to answer how local coastlines will change over time under different Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) scenarios, where errors in modelled coastlines come from, and how much of an impact isostatic rebound has on sea-levels compared to climate-change
