The assembly of data from different parts of proteomics workflow is often a major bottleneck in proteomics. Furthermore, there is an increasing demand for the publication of details about protein identifications due to the problems with false-positive and false-negative identifications. In this report, we describe how the open-source Proteios software has been expanded to automate the assembly of

Popular Abstract in Swedish Denna avhandling handlar om modeller inom partikelfysik, vilka beskriver naturens minsta beståndsdelar. Sedan 60-This thesis dealswith the field of high-energy particle physics. It ismainly concernedwith two issues: the “renormalization of effective field theories” and the “detection of hidden sectors”. The first two papers are dedicated to the renormalization issue while the second two deal with the hidden sectors. Renormalization is crucial when one calculates physical observables to a high degree of preci

In the era of Internet of Things, software systems need to interact with many physical entities and cope with new requirements at runtime. Self-Adaptive systems aim to tackle those challenges, often representing their context with a runtime model enabling better reasoning capabilities. However, those models quickly grow in size and need to be updated frequently with small changes due to a high num

Linear-transmitters based on combined analog locked loop universal modulator (CALLUM) architectures are attractive, as they promise both high efficiency and high linearity. To date, it has not been possible to analyze a CALLUM transmitter as a linear feedback network due to the nonlinear nature of the control equations governing it. The main purpose of this paper has been the derivation of a linea

Activity quantification in nuclear medicine imaging is highly desirable, particularly for dosimetry and biodistribution studies of radiopharmaceuticals. Quantitative In-111 imaging is increasingly important with the current interest in therapy using Y-90 radiolabeled antibodies. One of the major problems in quantification is scatter in the images, which leads to degradation of image quality. The a

For a long time the attention given to the hip fracture patient group was minor and without any certain consideration to their frailty. To improve the care for these patients Skane University Hospital in Lund has during the past 19 years worked actively with developing the care. This paper aims to describe what impact the care process development has had on functional outcome and mortality, as wel

Nocturnal animals relying on vision typically have eyes that are optically and morphologically adapted for both increased sensitivity and greater information capacity in dim light [1]. Here, we investigate whether adaptations for increased sensitivity also are found in their photoreceptors by using closely related and fast-flying nocturnal and diurnal bees as model animals. The nocturnal bee Megal

In this paper, a Fisher information analysis is employed to establish some important physical performance bounds in microwave tomography. As a canonical problem, the two-dimensional electromagnetic inverse problem of imaging a cylinder with isotropic dielectric losses is considered. A fixed resolution is analysed by introducing a finite basis, i.e., pixels representing the material properties. The

Abstract Food is frequently packed in a controlled environment of gas, in order to extend shelf life. It is of great importance to be able to monitor the status of the packed food to ensure quality. We demonstrate a technique to monitor the gas inside packages non-intrusively by using a laser spectroscopicmethod in scattering solid materials. The technique named GASMAS (GAs in Scattering Media Abs

Boreal forests and peatlands are globally significant carbon stores but they are threatened by rising air temperatures and changes in precipitation regimes and the frequency of natural disturbances. Predicting how the boreal biome will respond to climate change depends on being able to accurately model and upscale the greenhouse gas fluxes between these ecosystems and the atmosphere. This thesis f

What are the consequences of a severe health shock like an influenza pandemic on fertility? Using rich administrative data and a difference-in-differences approach, we evaluate fertility responses to the 1918–19 influenza pandemic in Sweden. We find evidence of a small baby boom following the end of the pandemic, but we show that this effect is second-order compared to a strong long-term negative
