Den som dokumenterar en grop åt andra

An archaeological excavation made within contract archaeology almost invariably means that the site is destroyed. This means that the documentation, which can be seen as the site’s remaining archive, is extremely important. In this master’s thesis the written digital documentation from eight excavations made within Swedish contract archaeology between 2000 and 2013 is examined using the technique

Enhancing the Activity of a Dietzia sp. D5 Baeyer-Villiger Monooxygenase towards Cyclohexanone by Saturation Mutagenesis

A recombinant Baeyer-Villiger monooxygenase, BVMO4 from Dietzia sp. D5 has been previously reported. The enzyme exhibited good thermostability and was active with a wide range of cyclic ketone substrates but catalysed poorly the conversion of cyclohexanone to caprolactone. The present work focuses on protein engineering of BVMO4 to improve the conversion of cyclohexanone. Thus, a structural model

Arsenic adsorption by iron-aluminium hydroxide coated onto macroporous supports: Insights from X-ray absorption spectroscopy and comparison with granular ferric hydroxides.

This paper evaluates the arsenic adsorption characteristics of a macroporous polymer coated with coprecipitated iron-aluminium hydroxides (MHCMP). The MHCMP adsorbent-composite fits best with a pseudo-second order model for As(III) and a pseudo-first order kinetic model for As(V). The MHCMP shows a maximum adsorption capacity of 82.3 and 49.6mgAs/g adsorbent for As(III) and As(V) ions respectively

Examensarbete - Framtagande av handlingsplan för geodatabas

Signal is a very important part of the railway. If you place a signal or a different object which is also important in the wrong place, can mean increased safety risks. To ease the work of the consultants in the creation of operational site drawings, the aim is to develop an action plan for the creation of a database, which in turn will be used to create a tool that can be used to automate the pro

Transferability of Online Store Image- A Comparative Study of Zalando's Online Store Image In Germany, Sweden and The Netherlands.pdf

Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to examine the role of online store image in the internationalization process of online retailers. Based on the assumption that a favorable image is a competitive advantage for retailers, this master thesis examines whether or not a favorable domestic online store image, can be replicated in the in- ternationalization process of online retailers. Using a comp

Molecular specification of expanded forebrain neural stem and progenitor cells

Mycket av intresset för deThe molecular specification of neural precursor cells has been suggested to be a progressive process, with a transition from an early requirement for extrinsic signals to intrinsic mechanisms. Thus, the cells in the nervous system acquire distinct fates in response to extrinsic signals, which activate repertoires of transcription factors in a region and cell type specific manner. The studies in th

4 a § ILDue to the construction of some 3:12 rules and precedents from the Supreme Administrative Court, transfers of close companies through the so-called ”trädabolagsmetoden” is from a tax aspect treated differently, depending on whether the acquirer of the close company is related to the seller or not. Related persons is currently disfavoured. The Swedish Parliament has through accepting Prop. 2018/19:

Short and Long-Term Controls on Active Layer and Permafrost Carbon Turnover Across the Arctic

Decomposition of soil organic matter (SOM) in permafrost terrain and the production of greenhouse gases is a key factor for understanding climate change-carbon feedbacks. Previous studies have shown that SOM decomposition is mostly controlled by soil temperature, soil moisture, and carbon-nitrogen ratio (C:N). However, focus has generally been on site-specific processes and little is known about v

Simultaneous assimilation of remotely sensed soil moisture and FAPAR for improving terrestrial carbon fluxes at multiple sites using CCDAS

The carbon cycle of the terrestrial biosphere plays a vital role in controlling the global carbon balance and, consequently, climate change. Reliably modeled CO2 fluxes between the terrestrial biosphere and the atmosphere are necessary in projections of policy strategies aiming at constraining carbon emissions and of future climate change. In this study, SMOS (Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity) L3

Manners and etiquette for hybrid teaching

Hybrid is what we call meetings, seminars or lectures that have both physical and digital participants. It might be the case that a majority of students attend a lecture on site and a few students attend from home – or vice versa. Hybrid teaching has become a relatively common format at University but it comes with several challenges. Therefore, it’s important to think through a meeting in advance

Prediction of Activation Energies for Aromatic Oxidation by Cytochrome P450

We have estimated the activation energy for aromatic oxidation by compound I in cytochrome P450 for a diverse set of 17 substrates using state-of-the-art density functional theory (B3LYP) with large basis sets. The activation energies vary from 60 to 87 kJ/mol. We then test if these results can be reproduced by computationally less demanding methods. The best methods (a B3LYP calculation of the ac

Tests of HPGe- and scintillation-based backpack γ-radiation survey systems.

The performance of three different backpack-mounted γ-radiation survey systems has been investigated. The systems are based on a LaBr3:Ce detector and a NaI(Tl) detector both with active volume dimensions of 76.2 mm in diameter and 76.2 mm length and a 123% relative efficiency HPGe detector. The detection limits of the systems were tested in a controlled outdoor environment in Sweden, followed by

Artificial Redirection of Sensation From Prosthetic Fingers to the Phantom Hand Map on Transradial Amputees: Vibrotactile Versus Mechanotactile Sensory Feedback

This work assesses the ability of transradial amputees to discriminate multi-site tactile stimuli in sensory discrimination tasks. It compares different sensory feedback modalities using an artificial hand prosthesis in: 1) a modality matched paradigm where pressure recorded on the five fingertips of the hand was fed back as pressure stimulation on five target points on the residual limb; and 2) a

Locating the Hans Tausen drill site

The Hans Tausen drill site was requested to be on a local dome, as high as possible, with a simple flow pattern and with an undisturbed flow pattern even close to bedrock. The first mapping of the surface elevation was performed as part of a general mapping of the elevation and gravity over Greenland. Later, NASA performed a few overflights of the ice cap. Combining the passes, it was possible to

Tissue Dielectric Constant and Water Displacement Method can detect changes of mild Breast cancer-related arm lymphedema.

Background: Most commonly, volume measurements are used to evaluate the effect of lymphedema treatment, but as the accumulation of lymph fluid can be local, this method may not always be the best. Tissue dielectric constant (TDC) can be applied to identify local lymphedema changes, but has not been used before when evaluating treatment in mild arm lymphedema. Thus, the overall aim of this study wa

Winter site use by Afro-Palearctic migrants in Ghana : site persistence and densities of Willow Warbler, Pied Flycatcher, Melodious Warbler and Common Redstart

Little is known about the variation within and among species of long-distance migrants in behavioural strategies and habitat choice on their non-breeding grounds. We report results from regular ringing operations carried out during the winter seasons 2009–2013 and transect counts in 2013, 2015 and 2016 in the Sudan Savanna Zone in Ghana. The best supported capture–mark–recapture model included spe

Multiple interferon regulatory factor and NF-κB sites cooperate in mediating cell-type- and maturation-specific activation of the human CD83 promoter in dendritic cells

CD83 is one of the best-known surface markers for fully mature dendritic cells (mature DCs), and its cell-type- and maturation-specific regulation makes the CD83 promoter an interesting tool for the genetic modulation of DCs. To determine the mechanisms regulating this DC- and maturation-specific CD83 expression, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP)-on-chip microarray, biocomputational, reporter,

River powered water pump for the amazon

I had the opportunity to work with the flood plain community: Nossa Senhora das Gracas in the Amazon in Brazil. During a month long stay I observed the daily life of the people. A life where the inhabitants shape their daily routines after the rising and dropping Solemoes river. Solemoes is a part of the Amazon river. I identified a need of harvesting water during the low water season, when the r
