Streptococcus pyogenes can cause invasive disease with high mortality despite adequate antibiotic treatments. To address this unmet need, we have previously generated an opsonic IgG1 monoclonal antibody, Ab25, targeting the bacterial M protein. Here, we engineer the IgG2-4 subclasses of Ab25. Despite having reduced binding, the IgG3 version promotes stronger phagocytosis of bacteria. Using atomic

Much of our built environment is constructed to accommodate ‘normate’ (Garland-Thomson 1996; Hamraie 2017) bodies. This fact may remain invisible to normate users of public space, much as the ordering of human interaction through categorisation is often invisible (Bowker & Star 1999). Reading semiotic landscapes through the dis/abling (Campbell 1999) of bodies that (attempt to) move through th

Art forms tend to mirror themselves in each other. In order to understand literature and fine arts better, we often turn to music, speaking of the ‘tone’ in a book and of the ‘rhythm’ in a painting. In attempts to understand music better, we turn instead to the narrative arts, speaking of the ‘story’ of a musical piece. This book focuses on two examples of such conceptual mirror reflexivity: narraArt forms tend to mirror themselves in each other. In this article, we study the ongoing redevelopment of post-war, modernist residential area Rosengård, located in Sweden’s third biggest city Malmö. We show how a planning and design strategy for this area has come to focus on a ‘compact city’ typology in line with Malmö’s strategy for creating a ‘near, dense, green and mixed city’. Such compact city typology emphasizes high density, urbanity, pro

What a syllable can tell us on language Joana Rosselló joana.rossello@ub.edu University of Barcelona Language is a system of discrete infinity (DI). Any human being can cope with an infinite number of sentences (syntax) and chunks of well-formed sound/gesture sequences (phonology). Any human has also at his/her disposal an open-ended lexicon. In this paper I put forward the proposal that DI relies
