Global incidence, prevalence, years lived with disability (YLDs), disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs), and healthy life expectancy (HALE) for 371 diseases and injuries in 204 countries and territories and 811 subnational locations, 1990–2021: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021

Background: Detailed, comprehensive, and timely reporting on population health by underlying causes of disability and premature death is crucial to understanding and responding to complex patterns of disease and injury burden over time and across age groups, sexes, and locations. The availability of disease burden estimates can promote evidence-based interventions that enable public health researc

Transfer reactions on neutron-rich nuclei at REX-ISOLDE

We report on one- and two-neutron transfer reactions to study the single-particle properties of nuclei at the border of the "island of inversion". The (d,p)- and (t,p)-reactions in inverse kinematics on the neutron-rich isotope 30Mg, delivered as radioactive beam by the REX-ISOLDE facility, have been investigated. The outgoing protons have been detected and identified by a newly built array of Si

THE RADIAL VELOCITY EXPERIMENT (RAVE) : FIFTH DATA RELEASE

Data Release 5 (DR5) of the Radial Velocity Experiment (RAVE) is the fifth data release from a magnitude-limited (9 < I < 12) survey of stars randomly selected in the Southern Hemisphere. The RAVE medium-resolution spectra (R ∼ 7500) covering the Ca-triplet region (8410-8795 A) span the complete time frame from the start of RAVE observations in 2003 to their completion in 2013. Radial velocities f

Working Papers in Scandinavian Syntax 86 (2010) 25-56 On Icelandic Object Shift* Mayumi Hosono, Leiden University m.hosono@umail.leidenuniv.nl Abstract In this paper I discuss Icelandic Object Shift from the perspective of the Icelandic intonational properties. I firstly show that the arguments based on the Mapping Hypothesis (Diesing 1992, 1997) make a wrong prediction for the applicability of Ob

Antigen presentation capacity and cytokine production by murine splenic dendritic cell subsets upon Salmonella encounter.

Salmonella typhimurium is an intracellular bacterium that replicates in the spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes (MLN) of orally infected mice. However, little is known about the Ag presentation and cytokine production capacity of dendritic cells (DC), particularly CD8alpha(+), CD8alpha(-)CD4(-), and CD8alpha(-)CD4(+) DC, from these organs in response to SALMONELLA: Infection of purified splenic DC w

Hot planets around cool stars - Two short-period mini-Neptunes transiting the late K-dwarf TOI-1260

We present the discovery and characterization of two sub-Neptunes in close orbits, as well as a tentative outer planet of a similar size, orbiting TOI-1260 - a low metallicity K6 V dwarf star. Photometry from Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite(TESS) yields radii of Rb = 2.33 ± 0.10 and Rc = 2.82 ± 0.15 R⊕, and periods of 3.13 and 7.49 d for TOI-1260 b and TOI-1260 c, respectively. We combined t

Egypten - Det märkvärdigaste land på jordytan: En komparation mellan Michael Enemans och Johan Hedenborgs skildringar om Egyptens monument och befolkning

“Egypt - The most remarkable land on earth: A comparison between Michael Eneman and Johan Hedenborg's descriptions of Egypt's monuments and population”. Egypt has throughout the ages always intrigued people, tempting their curiosity to explore and witness the old monuments. This essay aims to analyse two Swedish travelers who went on a journey to Egypt and then compare their descriptions o

The landscape of somatic mutations in infant MLL-rearranged acute lymphoblastic leukemias.

Infant acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) with MLL rearrangements (MLL-R) represents a distinct leukemia with a poor prognosis. To define its mutational landscape, we performed whole-genome, exome, RNA and targeted DNA sequencing on 65 infants (47 MLL-R and 18 non-MLL-R cases) and 20 older children (MLL-R cases) with leukemia. Our data show that infant MLL-R ALL has one of the lowest frequencies o

Perceived and observed biases within scientific communities : a case study in movement ecology

Who conducts biological research, where they do it and how results are disseminated vary among geographies and identities. Identifying and documenting these forms of bias by research communities is a critical step towards addressing them. We documented perceived and observed biases in movement ecology, a rapidly expanding sub-discipline of biology, which is strongly underpinned by fieldwork and te

Identification of additional risk loci for stroke and small vessel disease: a meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies

Background Genetic determinants of stroke, the leading neurological cause of death and disability, are poorly understood and have seldom been explored in the general population. Our aim was to identify additional loci for stroke by doing a meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies. Methods For the discovery sample, we did a genome-wide analysis of common genetic variants associated with inc
