Franska Västindien, som det exemplifieras i Patrick Chamoiseaus romaner, är ett bra exempel på hur det fantastiska kan hjälpa till i upptäckten av ett förflutet som glömts bort eller förträngts.I this paper I study how the fantastic can be used in novels that pretend to be historical. The case of the French Indies, as in the works of Patrick Chamoiseau, is a good example of how the fantastic can help when discovering a past that has been forgotten or repressed.

The acoustic field generated by a lifted flame is studied by a hybrid approach. First, Large Eddy Simulations (LES) are used to compute the flow and the acoustic sources. Next, an inhomogeneous wave equation is solved to obtain the resulting acoustic field. The flow computations show good agreement with experimental data.
