Integritetsfrågor i arbetslivet
Popular Abstract in Swedish Denna avhandling behandlar ämnesområdet integritet i arbetslivet. IntThis dissertation deals with personal privacy in working life. Humans have legitimate expectations and claims to respect for and non-interference with personal privacy in many areas and stages of life. The work place is just one of them. The point departure when dealing with privacy matters at the workplace is primarily the claim by individual employees to respect for and non-interference with the

Energy transfer within Zn-porphyrin dendrimers: Study of the singlet-singlet annihilation kinetics
In this article, we explore energy transfer processes within a series of Zn-porphyrin-appended dendrimers by means of excitation intensity dependent transient absorption measurements. We report singlet-singlet annihilation on two distinct time scales of 18 +/- 5 ps and 130 +/- 10 ps in the dimer and the dendrimers. The two distinct processes reflect the presence of two structural conformer distrib
The carotenoid S-1 state in LH2 complexes from purple bacteria Rhodobacter sphaeroides and Rhodopseudomonas acidophila: S-1 energies, dynamics, and carotenoid radical formation
Using near-infrared femtosecond absorption spectroscopy, we have determined the S-1 energies of the carotenoids spheroidene and rhodopin glucoside in LH2 complexes of purple bacteria. The S-1 energies in the LH2 complexes yield values of 13400 +/- 100 cm(-1) for spheroidene and 12550 +/- 150 cm(-1) for rhodopin glucoside, which are very close to the S-1 energies obtained for both carotenoids in so
Histamine in rheumatoid arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease characterized by a persistent inflammation of the synovium, leading to the erosion of articular cartilage and bone. Synovial mast cells and their effector molecule, histamine, receive increased attention as mediators of joint inflammation. The aim of our study was to analyse levels of free histamine in serum and joint fluid of RA patients and to e

Adsorption and charge-transfer study of bi-isonicotinic acid on in situ-grown anatase TiO2 nanoparticles
Bi-isonicotinic acid (2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid) is an important ligand in the chemistry of organometallic devices. Here, the adsorption of a monolayer of the molecule on in situ-grown anatase TiO2 nanoparticles has been investigated by means of X-ray photoemission spectroscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy. The bonding geometry is determined to be 2M-bidentate. Furthermore, reson

Large-Scale Gravitational Instability and Star Formation in the Large Magellanic Cloud
Large-scale star formation in disk galaxies is hypothesized to be driven by global gravitational instability. The observed gas surface density is commonly used to compute the strength of gravitational instability, but according to this criterion, star formation often appears to occur in gravitationally stable regions. One possible reason is that the stellar contribution to the instability has been

A Cu/Pt near-surface alloy for water-gas shift catalysis
The primary route to hydrogen production from fossil fuels involves the water-gas shift (WGS) reaction, and an improvement in the efficiency of WGS catalysts could therefore lead to a major leap forward in the realization of hydrogen economy. On the basis of a combination of high-resolution scanning tunneling microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and density functional theory (DFT) calcula
Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Auxiliary Power Units for Heavy Duty Trucks
This paper explores the potentials of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) as 3 kW auxiliary power units for trucks and military vehicles operating on diesel fuel. Various issues are discussed, e.g., the requirements and specifications for the unit as well as the advantages, challenges, and development issues for SOFCs in such applications. System design and analysis are carried out. The major component

Influence of urban planning regulations on the microclimate in a hot dry climate: The example of Damascus, Syria
Urban planning regulations influence not only the urban form; they also have a great impact on the microclimate in urban areas. This paper deals with the relationship between the urban planning regulations and microclimate in the hot dry city of Damascus. The main purpose is to highlight the shortcomings of the existing urban planning regulations. The microclimatic parameters necessary for the the
Marital status and generalized trust in other people: A population-based study
The association between marital status and generalized trust in other people was investigated. The public health survey in Skane 2008 is a cross-sectional study including 28,198 persons (55% participation rate) aged 18-80 in southern Sweden. Logistic regression models investigated associations between marital status and trust, adjusting for age, country of birth, education, emotional support, inst

On-the-job training for process operators as a strategy for competence achievement - A case study
The technical development in complex and highly automated production processes affects the process operator’s work and the demands on the operator. Two significant problems are difficulties in acquiring and maintaining the necessary competence and a risk of understimulation, since a stable process does not generate many active tasks, largely because of a higher degree of automation. In this case s
