This thesis examines how the sterilization requirement for transgender individuals who wanted to change their legal gender in Sweden between 1972 and 2013 was shaped in governmental invesigations (Statens offentliga utredningar) based on expert opinions and dominant descourses in society. The thesis has also investigated whether the sterilization requirement can be seen as a biopolitical practice.
