al-Tirmiḏī’s Kitāb al-Ǧumal : A Comparative Analysis of the Text’s Two Extant Manuscripts
This thesis presents a collation of two extant handwritings of the text Kitāb al-Ǧumal, a mystical treatise by the ninth century Sufi thinker Abū ʿAbd Allah Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī al-Tirmiḏī, also known al-Ḥakīm al-Tirmiḏī. The two handwritings are: (1) a manuscript from the Arabic collection at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris, comprising two and a half folios of relatively difficult to
Search for a new Z′ gauge boson via the pp →W± (*) →z′μ±ν →μ∓μ μ±ν process in pp collisions at vs =13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
A search for a new Z′ gauge boson predicted by Lµ-Lτ models, based on charged-current Drell-Yan production, pp→W±(∗)→Z′μ±ν→μ±μ μ±ν, is presented. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb-1 of proton-proton collisions at s=13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The search examines a final state of 3μ plus large missing transverse momentum.
Early initiated noradrenaline versus fluid therapy for hypotension and shock in the emergency department (VASOSHOCK): a protocol for a pragmatic, multi-center, superiority, randomized controlled trial
BackgroundShock is a condition with high mortality even with early intervention and treatment. Usual care for shock and hypotension in the Emergency Department (ED) is intravenous fluid resuscitation which can lead to fluid overload and other complications. When fluid therapy fails or risk of complications are high, the next treatment step is the use of vasopressors for stabilisation. Noradrenalin
Targeted ferroptosis induction enhances chemotherapy efficacy in chemoresistant neuroblastoma
Neuroblastoma (NB) is an aggressive pediatric solid tumor which often develops chemoresistance. Ferroptosis is a potential vulnerability in NB, but its interplay with chemoresistance and standard-of-care chemotherapy is not known. Here, we report that key antioxidant pathways are enriched in refractory NB, and that ferroptosis can be induced in NB through various mechanisms of action (MOA) in vitr
Cemented versus cementless cup fixation in total hip arthroplasty for proximal femoral fractures : analysis of revision and mortality rates from the German arthroplasty registry (EPRD)
BACKGROUND: The management of femoral neck fractures (FNF) in elderly patients depends on comorbidities, pre-fracture mobility, any hip joint disease, and life expectancy, with treatment typically involving either hemiarthroplasty (HA) or total hip arthroplasty (THA). While cemented femoral stem fixation is standard, there is no clear consensus regarding cemented versus cementless cup fixation in

Are Grignard Reactions in Deep Eutectic Solvents Interface-Driven?
Due to their high reactivity, organolithium and organomagnesium addition to ketones is usually performed under inert atmosphere at low temperature. Recent work has shown that, by dissolving the substrate in deep eutectic solvents (DES), these processes can be carried out on the benchtop, in air at room temperature. Surprisingly, the organometallic reagent, added to the DES from an organic solu

Assessing Argument Literacy : Developing a Civic Argument Literacy Test
Argument literacy – the ability to analyse and evaluate arguments in context – is essential in adult life. Yet, many struggle to distinguish opinions from reasoned claims, weak arguments from strong, and to understand how reasons support a claim. To address this, the Civic Argument Literacy Test (CALT) has been developed. It assesses nine argument literacy sub-skills using real-world-type examples

Who intervenes when Jews or Muslims are persecuted? : Replicating a profile pattern from Holocaust rescuers
Do the characteristics that motivated non-Jews to rescue Jews during the Holocaust also predict morally courageous intentions in today’s high school students? Swedish students (N = 231) completed a survey assessing parental role modelling, empathic concern, risk-taking, and identification with outgroups, indicating whether they would intervene to help persecuted Jews and Muslims in various scenari

Perspective on soundscapes : Verb constructions in descriptions of everyday sounds
This study explores how listeners use verb constructions to describeeveryday sounds. It considers (i) how the verb constructions provide Gestaltto events in the form of activities, processes and states, and (ii) how theconstructions correspond to different aspects of a soundscape (soundsources, acoustic properties, and listener reactions). We found that verbconstructions primarily describe sound s
